We had a party on Nov. 10th. David Nelson from Il Bistro created three specialty cocktails along with two punches, we had hard milkshakes and burgers courtesy of Dick’s Drive-Ins, and spiked coffee, tea and hot cocoa courtesy of Pot O’ Gold Coffee. Truckasauras and Danny Ames provided the music, and Gabe Jones, Steve Gramling, and Jessica Knollmeyer took photos.. Our Twitter hashtag, #crownswizzle, trended in Seattle at around 7:30pm.

New business whirlwind

It’s been a whirlwind at Crown Social. We’ve been buying last-minute plane tickets to California to pitch a big potential client. One of our new employees worked at Ogilvy PR for almost five years, and has been implementing processes that will alleviate the growing pains that come with a new business. We’ve also been fortunate to have an SMB consultant help us diversify and streamline our business development efforts.

I’m no longer concerned about whether there is enough demand in the marketplace, and I am strongly convinced that the quality of our strategic offering is world-class; I am now worried only about keeping our cash flow positive while we’re trying to grow.

But this weekend has been productive. Aside from polishing off some work for an existing client, we also finalized a big new business pitch and secured a little more than $50K in new friends-and-family investment. We just kicked off a new client last week and are in the process of making a couple of solid case studies from our previous work…

Oh, and we’re having an open house at our offices on Thurs., Nov. 10th. We’d love to have you if you can make it.

Just heard about this crazy idea from some friends who are visiting from Tokyo. At a high level, it’s like Disneyland, except kids take jobs instead of “playing.” Honestly it sounds like a lot of fun, but then I used to dress up in brown and deliver packages to the neighbors when I was younger. There is evidently a vocal minority who think that KidZania is glorifying capitalism. Part of the allure to potential franchisees is the high level of corporate sponsorship; kids work in a Coca-Cola bottling factory, manage a McDonalds, etc. Anyway, it appears that a VP Marketing from Nintendo of America has been tapped to bring the idea to the U.S. I can’t wait to take CC.

Elected to the board of the Seattle Ad Club!!

Sweet! Couldn’t be more excited about joining the Seattle Ad Club this year. There are a couple of other Wunderman peeps on there too, so it will be a good way to stay in touch with them, and there are a lot of opportunities for new events, sponsorships, etc.

Checked out the Seattle chapter of the Keiretsu Forum today too. It was really interesting for an entrepreneur like me to hear other entrepreneurs and CEOs pitch their companies and then to hear some sharp investors talk about what they liked, potential pitfalls, etc.

In other news: it’s extremely time consuming to start a business! lol

Day one was rad. There’s a lot of demand. We are successfully combining knowledge of Internet applications and social media with traditional marketing best-practices. And awesome, of course. T-Mobile is a runway model home for the holidays dressed in her sweatpants, and we wholeheartedly recommend that Microsoft buy Abercrombie and Fitch because they would both gain crazy brand symmetry. Haha – Chicago’s W3 already had that idea: pairing Bieber with Xbox. “You should have seen their faces.” Ridiculous.
